When David Dickinson and his wife Lorne Lesley returned from their 2004 Christmas break in Asia they were approached by the media and asked to re-tell their experiences of the disaster of the Tsunami which they had encountered on the Malaysian island of Langkawi.  David appeared on BBC's North West Today evening news. David was keen to play down his near escape from being caught up in the wave, as he was very aware of all the people all over the world suffering real tragedy, heart break and hardship. But David Dickinson told the reporter that whilst sunbathing on a remote beach he and his wife had had to run for cover and "No sooner had we gone into the opening when a huge wave came crashing in - about 15m high."  You can read more here
Also in January David voiced over TV adverts for Comet the electrical store and appeared on TV adverts for Bid TV.  David Dickinson was interviewed for a two part documentary 'Love Child'  for ITV on  9 and 16 January 2005. David agreed to share his heart felt emotions about his adoption and his quest to find his birth Mother. At times David became so distraught that filming had to be halted. The documentary reveals the emotional stories of mothers and children involved in adoption, particularly between the 1940s and late 1960s when social pressure often forced unmarried women to give up their babies, sometimes without saying goodbye. David hoped it would help others like himself who had been adopted.
In February 2005 David and his wife Lorne were interviewed on the Keith Barret Show for BBC 2.  Keith with his incisive wit tried to tap into the success of their long lasting marriage and even danced cheek to cheek with Lorne and David. Sunday 20 March 2005 saw David Dickinson's long awaited appearance on ITV's long running series Heartbeat.  David played a helpful Antique Dealer called Crispin Jones.  (For pic see News Page)

In July 2005 David launched his brand new reality style TV show Dealing With Dickinson for the BBC. Six hour long episodes followed the progress of six antique novices and enthusiasts as David mentored them as a team to buy and sell antiques for a profit. Viewers were shown a more serious side to David Dickinson as pressure grew and his own investment of £50,000 was at stake. In October David took part in a brand new show for BBC 3 as a contestnat in Stars in Fast Cars billed as 'Wacky races meets Top Gear' this crazy competition was evidently a lot of fun.
Get Me Out Of Here' . David was the Daddy of the group and soon earned the affection and respect of his fellow participants. He was the fourth person to leave but not before he had leapt from a Helipcopter, undergone a glorious 'Tucker Trial' and survived a torrential downpour. Respect!
