If you thought David Dickinson's only TV work was as the flamboyant presenter of BBC Bargain Hunt you'll be surprised to learn about the other TV shows he's appeared on.
Read on to find about more of what you've missed and what to look out for in the future.

David's first taste of TV was when he appeared in the BBC's documentary series Modern Times. A two part show followed David as he went about his daily business as an antiques dealer, accumulating stock and preparing for a show at Olympia. His day job still revolves around major shows like Olympia. For more information look in on their very interesting website. antiques, going going ...

Next came more work for the BBC. He had a weekly feature on The Antiques Show, Buyers Guide, giving advice on a different antique area or collectable every week. Everything from eggcups to bathtubs with tea caddies in-between. You can pick up some of the tips he imparted by looking up the BBC website.

He's made regular guests appearances on Going For A Song and presented three slots on the Travel Show on buying antiques on holiday.
Also in autumn 1999 he presented his own prime time TV series on Channel 5, The Antiques Hunter. A series of eight programmes. In each programme he would help an interested individual or couple track down a particular type of antique or collectable they had been searching for. You saw him visit them at home to discuss the planned purchase and budget, then help them search trade papers etc. for information before escorting them to a sale or auction to hopefully acquire the desired piece. There's more about the items tracked down in the show in David's contemporary book 'The Antiques Buyer'. antiques buyer book

Bargain Hunt started in the spring of 2000 and aired at 11 o'clock each morning on BBC1 four days each week (Monday to Thursday) for the 10 week run, capturing the highest morning viewing figures of 1.2 million. A new series was broadcast in the Autumn increasing viewing figures to 1.8 million. Bargain Hunt has now completed it's fifth series with a three day run of live shows and there's a sixth series in the making. In the show David visits antiques fairs and show grounds with two teams who have a budget of £200 to spend on antiques. They then have to sell the goods on at auction and hopefully make a profit. The winner is the team who makes the most money. (Yes, I know you've heard the rules a hundred time before!) The shows also receives many repeat showings on BBC and UK Style. It has a laugh and learn formula. There's plenty of tips on buying antiques to be picked up and lots of laughs with David often taking up sale items as props. We've seen him trying on hats even sporrans! He provides the fun and the facts, some really awful puns and some captivating catch phrases.

David appeared as a panelist on Through the Keyhole in 2000 on BBC 1. His house was also featured. (series repeated Spring 2001. You can now catch the repeats on UK Style.). He's also appeared on the panel of Blankety Blank. And was a guest presenter on Holiday in Style (2001) where he visited The Residence Hotel in Mauritius. Viewers of this unforgettable show saw, amongst many other things, David characteristically chatting to a very exotic bird, and being offered an aphrodisiac? Surely not!
