The New Face of Daytime Bargain Hunt (15.12.02)

We would like to announce that David Dickinson will pass the reins of daytime Bargain Hunt to Tim Wonnacott who is to become the future (daytime) host, and will commence filming very soon.

David has worked with Tim on BBC 2's 'The Antiques Show' and Tim appears in David's video 'Cheap as Chips'. He is probably best known as a regular on the "Antiques Roadshow". David sends his very best wishes to Tim, in his new role.

Please don't forget that there are in the region of 40 daytime shows hosted by David Dickinson still to be aired and these will go out in the morning slot early next year. So there's lots more fun to be had with Mr Dickinson in the mornings!
THE DUKE'S CHRISTMAS SPEECH! (06.12.02)
David Dickinson 'The Duke' himself will address his fans through his website on Christmas Day, that's when we'll publish 'The Dukes Christmas Speech', exclusive to this site. David talks candidly and among other things reveals the highlights of his year, how he'll spend Christmas, what he'd like to find in his Christmas cracker and relives memories of his childhood. He also answers questions submitted by visitors to this site, including what he'll be wearing when Santa comes to call!!! It's a real Christmas cracker, don't miss it!

DON'T MISS OUR ONLINE ADVENT CALENDAR,

ALSO KNOWN AS 'THE TWELVE DAYS OF DAVID'

To help you countdown to 'The Duke's Christmas Speech' and put you in a frisky mood for the festive season we have created an online virtual advent calendar. Depending on your PC it may take a while to download, but it will be worth the wait. (As long as you see a grey box on the screen you need only wait and all will be revealed.) The calendar is time activated and so you won't be able to open the first window until 14 December. Merry Christmas one and all.

BARGAIN HUNT CHRISTMAS SPECIAL
CHRISTMAS DAY BBC 1at 3.40 pm (06.12.02) (15.12.02) (20.12.02)

Bargain Hunt a bit of a pantomime? Oh yes it is, oh no it isn't, well oh yes it will be on Christmas Day on BBC 1. David and his trusty band of experts have been filming a Christmas special this week and it will be full of festive fun! The teams are made up of four of your favourite regular Bargain Hunt experts and they are all dressed up as pantomime characters! Kate Allcock is Snow White with Michael Hogben as her Prince Charming, Phillip Serrell is The Woodman, but can you guess which expert is hamming it up as the Wicked Queen?
Look out for a guest appearance from Mark Perry, who portrays David in BBC 2's satirical show 'Dead Ringers', if you can tell him from the real thing that is! Ho Ho HO!!!

DAVE'S BIG STUDENT NIGHT OUT (20.12.02)

David sends his thanks to all the fans that attended the recent student bash's that he appeared at on Friday 13 December. He visited two lucky Unis in the one night, Leicester and Hallam. This was his first experience of a personal appearance at a union venue and he said he was "overwhelmed by the wonderful reception" he received and the number of fans who turned out to see him. He said that he stayed "as long as he could at each and did as many signings as was humanly possible." And he sends his "apologies to anyone who I didn't get to meet who may have felt left out." Dave obviously enjoyed the night immensley and hopes you all did too.

DAVID'S A TRUE OLYMPIAN! (12.06.02)

Available on eBay this month was an autographed photo of David Dickinson, snapped up by a regular visitor to this site! Also available were autographed copies of his book The Antiques Buyer.Over the last few months I've seen several autographed photos of David up for sale, pin badges picturing the Duke, and a very rare signed theatre flyer which went to the states. You can buy his books second hand for knock down prices too. So 'get in there bargain hunters' and see what you can grab for yourself. Sometimes it's just great to look what's out there. I can recommend the antiquities section for rare items such as photo's of 'a real life mermaid' ! Hours of fun asking yourself 'is it genuine or a bit of a duffer?' and 'will it make a profit, we'll see'!!!

IMITATION IS THE SINCEREST FORM OF FLATTERY! (17.11.02)

David Dickinson is being caricatured and impersonated by the best of them. In the last few weeks we've seen Frank Skinner's broadly northern, slightly bawdy version, Harry Hill's crazy twist, which had David stalking his prey (a sheep skin coat) and declaring himself 'The Hunter' and among the first to take up the challenge of imitating the inimitable were the talented guys on 'Dead Ringers'. The cult show 'Dead Ringers' returns to BBC 2 on Monday 18 November and will again lampoon David throughout the series. They may be imitating him but they are certainly not flattering him, several complaints have already been sent to this site about the trailer for the series. All I can suggest is that you tune in and make up your own mind.
It will be interesting to see the cartoon version of David on the fabulous ITV show '2DTV' which starts a new series on 27 November. Mr Dickinson will certainly be in celebrity company with amongst many others the Beckhams and George Michael.

DINING WITH DAVID AND LORNE DICKINSON (22.11.02)

When it comes to eating out
David enjoys fishy feasts including lobster and Dover sole and you won't be surprised to learn that Lorne is partial to a hot mullet dish. No kidding!

Anyone who missed the BBC Choice programme 'Diners' featuring David and Lorne can download video clips from the Diners site http://www.bbc.co.uk/choice/diners/videoclips.shtml
And anyone who wants to know more about David's dining habits can read all about them at http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/features/interview_dickinson.shtml
